Young Dolph's Fiancée Slams Killer For Seeking New Trial: 'Feels Like A Cruel Joke'

Memphis, TN - Young Dolph‘s fiancée has hit out at the late rapper’s killer for seeking a new trial.

Mia Jaye took to Instagram on Thursday (October 31) through her Black Men Deserve To Grow Old streetwear brand to react to Justin Johnson’s motion for a new trial.

Alongside a screenshot of a news headline, Jaye wrote: “It’s infuriating to see the person who took our loved one’s life now seeking a new trial over ‘insufficient evidence.’ Their arrogance feels like a cruel joke to me and my loved ones.”

She added: “We won’t let this deter us; we will keep fighting for justice and honor the memory of Adolph [heart emoji].”

It was reported earlier this week that Johnson is seeking a new trial because of a dispute over evidence that was used to convict him.

In September, Johnson was found guilty of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a firearm in connection with his role in Young Dolph’s death.

According to Memphis outlet Commercial Appeal, he filed a motion requesting a new trial, arguing that evidence presented in the case did not meet the requirements for conviction.

Johnson claimed that the jury should not have been shown photographs of Dolph’s dead body during the trial and that the court “erred” by not allowing him to sit with his legal counsel during the trial.

He has thus far been sentenced to life in prison for the murder conviction and awaits further sentencing for the other charges.

Johnson originally pleaded not guilty and addressed his conviction on social media shortly after it was handed down by the judge.

“These n-ggas taking criminal responsibility I’m taking street responsibility regardless I’m foreva the biggest they can throw away tha keys before I ever eat da cheese [blood drop emojis],” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.

Mia Jaye reacted to Johnson’s sentence with a statement of her own, saying: “Today’s verdict brings relief and restores my confidence in the justice system.

“On behalf of my children, family and myself, I would like to thank law enforcement, the prosecuion and everyone involved for their diligent work in presenting the facts that led to this conviction. We are also grateful to the public for standing with us and advocating for accountability throughout this process.”
