Burna Boy Responds To Fans After He Ejects Concertgoer: “Did I Tell You To Be My Fans?”

By TALLIE SPENCER

Burna Boy is speaking out after facing criticism for a viral clip where he halted his show in Denver to call out a fan who had fallen asleep in the front row. In the video, he stops performing, points toward the woman, and says, “When I stand up here and see you over there with your girl sleeping … it pisses me the f*** up.” He followed it by saying, “I’m not doing another song until you go home.” Security then stepped in and escorted the woman and her boyfriend out of the concert.

The incident immediately stirred conversation online. Many viewers labeled the Afrobeats singer as “rude” and “entitled,” arguing that he went too far. The woman involved eventually addressed the situation herself, sharing that she felt extremely embarrassed. “I am the girl who was kicked out of the show,” she wrote on social media. “That was humiliating for me and my boyfriend. Burna Boy could’ve handled that situation better. He had no idea what I was going through.”

She continued by explaining that she has been “mentally, physically, and emotionally drained” since the death of her daughter’s father. She said she went to the concert hoping to feel even a small bit of happiness “after everything that has happened.”

Burna Boy Doubles Down On Kicking Fan Out

Rather than stepping back from the situation, Burna Boy stayed firm in his stance. He appeared on a livestream with friends the night after the concert, laughing about the entire moment. Viewers flooded the chat asking him to respond. “Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money this period,” he said.

Earlier today, the “Last Last” artist posted a long message on Instagram to explain his reasoning more seriously. He compared the incident to being removed from an airplane for distracting the pilot or getting sent out of a classroom for interrupting a teacher. “My shows have people who have beaten cancer or overcome something serious, and none of them have ever slept lol,” he wrote.

He added, “I leave my soul on every stage I get on. Even if it’s only 10 people in attendance. And I will gladly be canceled if we’re now in a world where you can treat me like a stripper, slap my a** and tell me to keep dancing because you threw $100 at me.” Many commenters did not agree with his explanation, saying “he needs to be canceled” or that “he treats his fans poorly.” Others defended him and argued, “it’s his show and he can do what he wants.”

Burna Boy made it clear that he will not accept anything he feels disrupts the atmosphere he is trying to create. Even so, the situation is still circulating online, and people remain divided over whether his reaction was reasonable or completely unnecessary. Share what you think about it. Do you believe Burna Boy crossed a line, or was he within his rights as an artist?
