Kid Cudi Leaving Twitter: ‘Life Is Much Cooler Being Disconnected’

By SHAWN SETARO

Kid Cudi is leaving large parts of social media behind, and he’s feeling great about it.

On Thursday (December 19), the rapper announced — via a post on X (formerly Twitter), of course — that he was leaving the service behind, and changing some of his other social media use as well.

“I think my time is done on twitter,” he began. “If u wanna stay connected to me Ill have my ig, Ill keep yall updated thru my stories but I wont be posting much on there either. Just projects and things I got goin on will be posted by my team.”

He then got into his rationale for the change.

“I see too much bullshit on here and life is much cooler being disconnected,” he wrote. “I think Ive been too accessible, now when u hear from me itll be through my art. I love yall, its been real. Goodbye.”

One of those “projects and things” Cudi has going on is his memoir, which now has a release date.

Taking to X on Tuesday (December 16), the Cleveland native revealed the book will hit shelves on August 5 next year and will be titled Cudi: The Memoir. While the cover is still to be revealed, pre-orders for the Simon & Schuster release are available now.

In a follow-up post, Cudi expressed his confidence that the book will be life-changing for those who read it.

“So im reading this first draft, tweaking, fixing things, and im half way through and I know this book is gonna change so many peoples lives and inspire,” he said. “My story is so unique and real and raw and truly one of a kind. The shit reads like a fairy tale its crazy.”

Kid Cudi first announced that he was working on his autobiography back in September 2022, and revealed that he’d be talking about his “troubled boy” beginnings.

Cudi — who lost his father to cancer at the age of 11, and whose deeply vulnerable and confessional music has won him an army of adoring fans — admitted he was nervous about lifting the lid on his private life.

“Started writing the first chapter of my book,” he wrote at the time. “Its comin together really well. Tellin my story in my own words is scary, but I feel like it needs to be told. I feel like everything will make a lil more sense as to why you all met such a troubled boy in the beginning.”
