Morrissey Forced to Cancel More Gigs After Suffering ‘Extreme Exhaustion’

Morrissey has cancelled his Nude tour shows across South America as he continues to struggle with “extreme exhaustion.”

The former frontman of The Smiths was set to perform a string of concerts between November 8 and November 22 in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Santiago, Lima, and Bogota.

However, venues have confirmed to ticketholders that the singer decided to pull out of the scheduled dates.

Argentina’s Movistar Arena shared, “We inform the public that, due to the artist’s extreme exhaustion, Morrissey’s tour of Latin America will not take place, including the show scheduled for November 8th at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires.”

Only days earlier, Morrissey had also cancelled two concerts in Mexico for the same reason.

He was meant to perform at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City on October 31 and at Auditorio Telmex in Zapopan on November 4, but both were called off at the last minute.

Promoters OCESA released a statement that day saying, “We are informing the public in Mexico City and Guadalajara that, due to the artist’s extreme exhaustion, Morrissey’s concerts scheduled for October 31st at the Palacio de los Deportes and November 4th at the Auditorio Telmex have been cancelled.”

After the announcement, Morrissey’s official website posted a video last Saturday (November 1) for his song I Know It’s Gonna Happen Someday, captioned with several Mexican flag emojis and the title of the 1992 track.

Just last month, the singer also cancelled planned shows in Turkey following backlash over his support for Israel. The December concerts were scrapped after tickets were pulled from sale when footage resurfaced from a 2012 performance showing him draped in an Israeli flag while singing in Tel Aviv.

Back in September, the How Soon Is Now? musician also cancelled concerts in Connecticut and Boston due to what was described as a “credible threat” to his life during a performance.

A statement shared on Morrissey’s official Facebook page read, “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding.”

Another message followed: “Due to recent events and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, the upcoming shows this weekend at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall have been cancelled. All tickets will be refunded automatically at your original point of purchase. We appreciate your understanding.”

Earlier this summer, Morrissey also pulled his Stockholm concert, stating that he had “zero music industry support.”

He wrote on his website Morrissey Central, “The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew. I know it’s impossible for people to understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus… but there is no financial support from imaginary record labels to get us to such places.

“In the last seven days we have travelled into six countries, and we are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see.

“We pray to God that someone, somewhere can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark… where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support.

“No label will release our music, no radio will play our music… and yet our ticket sales are sensational. What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?”

In May, several shows in California were also cancelled after the 66-year-old singer was hospitalised due to what was described as a “severe sinusitis attack.”
