Lizzo Reveals She Waited Until Her First GRAMMY To Lose Her Virginity

Lizzo has shared that she once made a personal promise to stay a virgin until she “won a Grammy”.

While speaking on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast on Tuesday, the singer opened up about how she did not become sexually active until she reached her thirties.

"I was a late bloomer. I kept it a secret for years," she admitted to hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco. "Can you believe that? It honestly was not even on my mind. When I was younger, I made a deal with myself that I would not have sex until I won a Grammy. I'm being completely serious."

The Juice performer, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, explained that she eventually lost her virginity in 2020, shortly after earning her first three Grammy Awards in January of that year.

"I honestly feel relieved saying that out loud," the 37 year old added. "It used to feel so awkward. I had a group of girlfriends and one night we were just talking and someone asked, 'Wait Lizzo, are you a virgin?' I remember feeling so uncomfortable. I just said, 'I love the D.' That was my answer. It helped me avoid the conversation for a while."

During the same interview, Lizzo also spoke about her first kiss, which happened when she was 21 years old.

"You really have no idea. Faith played a role for me too. When I was younger at church, we all agreed we would wait until marriage. I was also just really nervous because I felt like nobody was interested in kissing me," she shared. "It happened on New Year's Eve and the guy pushed it on me. I was upset because I felt like that moment had been taken from me. I remember thinking my first kiss was supposed to be special."

The About Damn Time singer has been dating Myke Wright since 2022.

Lizzo is also said to have finished recording her fifth studio album, Love in Real Life, although an official release date has yet to be announced.
