Beyoncé Music Theft Suspect Admits Guilt In Court
A man has admitted to stealing unreleased Beyoncé music and tour materials from a vehicle belonging to the singer’s choreographer.
Back in July, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed that two suitcases owned by Christopher Grant and backup dancer Diandre Blue were taken from a rented Jeep Wagoneer parked near Krog Street Market in Atlanta, Georgia.
Police reports stated that the luggage contained laptops and hard drives filled with unreleased songs, watermarked tracks, production footage plans and early draft setlists connected to Beyoncé’s tour preparations.
Kelvin Evans was arrested in August and faced charges including criminal trespass and entering a vehicle with the intent to commit theft. During a court hearing on Tuesday, he officially pleaded guilty to the charges.
According to ABC News, Evans received a five year sentence. He will spend two years in custody, while the remaining time will be served under probation.
Under the plea deal, one of the charges was combined with the primary count. The judge also instructed Evans to stay away from the location where the theft happened, have no contact with the victims, and avoid committing any further legal violations.
So far, representatives for Christopher Grant, Diandre Blue and Beyoncé have not publicly addressed the case.
Even after the theft, Beyoncé continued her Cowboy Carter tour without interruption, with the run eventually wrapping up in Las Vegas roughly two weeks later.
