Cruz Beckham Opens Up About Life’s Ups And Downs On "Wear And Tear"
Cruz Beckham is reflecting on the ups and downs of life through his latest single, Wear and Tear.
The title song from the 21 year old indie artist's debut EP, arriving on August 21, explores the experiences and lessons that come with growing up.
The track stays true to the guitar focused style he has been developing alongside his band The Breakers. It features lively guitar work, psychedelic inspired riffs, and an anthemic chorus that feels made for festival crowds to sing along with.
The song was produced by Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov, who have previously worked with Kim Gordon, Joji, and Charli xcx.
Cruz, who has spent his life in the public eye as the son of Sir David Beckham and Lady Victoria Beckham, shared the meaning behind the track. “Wear and Tear is synonymous to a life lived and all your life experiences so far. The good and the bad, the learning curves, and everything in between. No matter how different every human experience is, we all have had at least a few similar emotions that make us all human. We’ve been high, and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset. We’ve lived and learned. We’ve all got our wear and tear.”
The upcoming EP arrives after the release of several singles that have become fan favorites during his performances with The Breakers. Among them are Yeah Yeah Yeah, the Risky Business inspired Waste Your Pain, and For Your Love, which Cruz has described as the track that helped him discover his musical direction.
Cruz has also received positive reviews for his live performances.
This July, he will kick off his first headline tour across the United States. The schedule also includes appearances at Reading and Leeds, Rock N Roll Circus, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Shaky Knees.
The tour follows his successful first headline run across the United Kingdom, where he performed at well known grassroots venues including King Tuts and Komedia before closing the tour with three sold out shows at London's Courtyard Theatre.
