Cat Burns reveals second album, How to be Human

Multi-BRIT and Mercury Prize nominee Cat Burns is preparing to release her next record, How to be Human, on Friday, October 31. The upcoming album comes after her highly praised debut project, early twenties, and is being described as her most intimate and self-reflective collection yet.

The album will feature 16 songs, including her recent singles "All This Love" and "GIRLS!" Throughout the record, she explores themes of vulnerability, healing, and love. Burns wrote the entire project herself, weaving in personal reflections and voice notes to create a sincere listening experience. She also guided the album’s visual direction, which was brought to life by photographer Sebastian Xavier.

About the process, Burns shared, "I experienced the death of a loved one and my first relationship heartbreak at the same time and genuinely had no idea how I would get through the situation." How to Be Human hopes to act as a "comfort album" for people facing similar hardships, helping them to "pick themselves back up."

To celebrate the release, Burns will head out on a seven-date UK headline tour this November. The shows will highlight music from the new record alongside fan favorites. News of the album and tour arrives just before her set at this weekend’s All Points East festival, where she will perform on an all-female bill alongside Raye, JADE, and Tyla.
