Jennifer Lopez reveals parenting shift after honest conversation with twins

Jennifer Lopez opened up about how she shifted her parenting approach after having a heartfelt conversation with her twins.
The global star shares her 17-year-old children, Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
In an interview on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, Jennifer recalled how her twins opened up to her about wanting her to be more present, something she was able to offer more of during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.
“They spoke to me, and they were like, ‘You’re not a regular mom. You’re not here every day. You don’t drop us off and pick us up like the other moms,’” she shared. “And that’s when I understood how much they needed me there.”
Before that moment, Jennifer admitted she had been in what she described as “hyperdrive,” feeling the weight of raising her twins largely on her own after finalizing her divorce from Marc in June 2014.
“They were used to me working,” the 56-year-old said, explaining how she leaned on family members and nannies to help raise them. “I think when the pandemic happened, I got to stay home, and I realised I need to be more home with them all the time. I saw how much they needed me. It wasn’t just about giving them a good life. It was about being there for them fully.”
Even though the conversation with Max and Emme was a “wakeup call,” Jennifer shared that their bond is stronger than ever.
She added that she now has the “best relationship” with her twins and is grateful for the change it inspired.
The singer and actress is currently promoting her new musical drama, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
