Daylyt’s response to The Fall-Off reappears as J. Cole confirms the album

Now that J. Cole has officially locked in a release date for his long awaited album The Fall-Off, fans have begun circulating an old comment from Daylyt, who claimed he heard the project back in 2024. At the time, the rapper, who previously worked with Cole on “Pi,” shared his reaction while speaking to followers during an Instagram Live session.

“Imma say it loud and clear. I heard ‘The Fall Off,’ I’m spillin’ the beans, it’s one of the best levels of rapping I have ever witnessed,” Daylyt said. “Cole is goin’ out with a nuclear missile, I’m tellin’ y’all that. He literally was like ‘I don’t give a f*** about the radio, I just wanna show the world my pen before I die.’”

After Hip Hop All Day reposted the quote on X, formerly Twitter, fans jumped into the replies to share their hopes and concerns about the album. “Lyrical miracle isn’t the thing that’s gonna make this album last,” one person commented. “Yeah we wanna see Cole sp*zz, but there gotta be real bangers with replay value like middle child, work out, love yours, and no role model.” Another user added, “We already know you can rap, Cole. Make something exciting and really craft the records. I’m rootin’ for you.”

Last week, J. Cole confirmed that The Fall-Off will arrive on February 6. He revealed the news through a trailer for the album, which features narration from Dan Harumi reflecting on fame and longevity in the entertainment world.

“Everything is supposed to go away eventually,” Harumi says as Cole is shown cleaning his car. “Especially in show business with famous actors or musicians. It’s like, ‘This guy used to be famous and then he fell off.’ They want to point at this, this and this, and say they made this mistake.”

Along with the trailer, Cole also dropped the first single from the project, titled “Disc 2 Track 2.” Both the song’s name and a preview of the album’s vinyl edition suggest that The Fall-Off will be released as a double album.
