Little Simz Reveals ‘Sugar Girl’ EP Set For Release Next Week

By Tom Skinner

Little Simz has revealed a new EP titled ‘Sugar Girl’, which is scheduled to arrive next week. Check out the teasers below.

The North London artist is set to release the project on Friday May 8, following her widely praised 2025 album ‘Lotus’. You can pre save or pre add it here.

A monochrome teaser clip for the upcoming release shows Simz performing bars over a heavy, electronic driven beat. She has not yet unveiled the full tracklist for ‘Sugar Girl’.

The announcement follows her debut of a new track, ‘Game On’, during her set at Coachella 2026 earlier this month (via Setlist.FM), before sharing a snippet of the song online last week.

She had already been teasing a new phase in her career through DJ segments mid performance at recent shows, including her appearance at London’s O2 last October.

Her London and Manchester shows in late 2025 marked the biggest headline performances of her career in the UK so far.

Last month, Simz picked up her fifth Ivor Novello Awards nomination for her single ‘Free’ in the Best Contemporary Song category. She also secured nominations at this year’s BRIT Awards and MOBO Awards.

In a four star review of her latest album, NME wrote: “‘Lotus’ isn’t always an easy listen, and sometimes the truths in its bars feel more like diary entries than rap lyrics, but maybe that’s its purpose.”

It continued: “Across 13 tracks, Simz sifts through grief, pressure, burnout and spiritual reckoning with a vulnerability that is admirable, making it among her most important works emotionally rather than sonically.

“Here, Simz is stripped to the root, healing in real time. Raw, flawed and deeply human this is what blooming really sounds like.”

Next month will see Simz headline Cross The Tracks 2026 in London before taking the stage at Bristol’s Forwards Festival, Barcelona’s Primavera Sound and Chicago’s Lollapalooza, among other stops. She will also join Gorillaz as a support act on their North American ‘The Mountain’ tour.
