Britney Spears Breaks Silence Following DUI Case and Rehab Stay

By Daniel Kreps

Britney Spears has shared her first public statement since her DUI arrest and recent stay at a rehabilitation facility, opening up about her ongoing healing process and the people supporting her along the way.

In an Instagram post shared Saturday, Spears expressed gratitude for the friends and new connections she has made during what she described as her “spiritual journey.” “I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey,” she wrote. “All a blessing in disguise.”

The singer paired the message with an image of a snake, which she said symbolizes “good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck.” Spears also mentioned spending time with her sons during a recent trip to a pet store. The update comes shortly after reports surfaced that she had checked out of a rehab center in Camden, Maine after staying there for less than three weeks.

Spears reflected on the challenges of self growth in the emotional post, admitting that she is still learning to treat herself with more compassion. “I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself,” she shared. “It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!”

The post follows Spears’ court case earlier this week, where she pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of wet reckless connected to her March DUI arrest. By accepting the lesser charge, Spears avoided jail time after originally facing a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.

After the arrest, Spears voluntarily entered a treatment program. Her attorney, Michael A. Goldstein, told Rolling Stone outside the courthouse that the singer has been making positive progress. “[Spears is] doing well,” he said. “It was reduced. The DUI was dismissed. She entered a plea to reckless driving… We appreciate the district attorney recognizing the positive steps Britney has taken to help herself, and we expect that she’ll continue to do so.”

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Spears will remain on summary probation for 12 months. The conditions include ongoing mental health and substance treatment, weekly sessions with her psychologist, twice monthly appointments with her psychiatrist, and completion of a three month DUI education program.
