Smokey Robinson Claims His Accuser Broke Into His Storage Unit
Smokey Robinson has stated that one of the women involved in the civil lawsuit against him recently entered his storage unit without permission.
In May, four former female housekeepers filed a fifty million dollar lawsuit against the R and B and soul legend and his wife Frances, alleging they experienced sexual battery, assault, and false imprisonment between 2012 and 2024.
Robinson, eighty five, rejected all of the accusations and soon after submitted a five hundred million dollar counterclaim against the unnamed women, accusing them of slander, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and financial elder abuse.
In a new development, Robinson’s legal team submitted a motion in a Los Angeles court on Monday claiming that the plaintiff identified as Jane Doe 4 kept a key to the family’s storage unit and accessed it on 22 November without any approval.
“Ms. Robinson was then shown security footage that displayed three individuals either at or inside the storage unit for around forty minutes, including one person she immediately recognized as Jane Doe 4, who was seen taking boxes and other items belonging to the Robinsons and placing them into a vehicle,” they wrote, as reported by Billboard.
The attorney representing the Cruisin' singer, Christopher Frost, also alleged that the plaintiff removed “thousands of dollars’ worth of personal property” from the space and described the act as “brazenly criminal.” They are now requesting a restraining order against her.
Replying to the motion, an attorney for the plaintiffs, John W. Harris, insisted that Jane Doe 4 “ever visited” the unit since her employment with the Robinsons ended.
In the previous month, two additional employees, a male car valet and a female housekeeper, also joined the original claim.
At the same time, a criminal investigation into the accusations is being handled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, although no charges have been brought forward yet.
