Ellie Goulding Confirms New Album Is on the Way

Ellie Goulding has revealed that her sixth studio album is finally on the way.

The 39 year old singer has not released a full length project since 2023’s Higher Than Heaven, but she confirmed that new music will be arriving “soon.”

Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, Ellie opened up about working closely with producer and multi instrumentalist Jack Rochon over the past few years.

She shared: "I’ve spent the past few years working really closely with a brilliantly talented producer and multi-instrumentalist called Jack Rochon.

"I actually found him on TikTok when he was still relatively undiscovered, living in Canada. He’s since moved to Los Angeles and worked with Beyonce.

"I immediately connected with what he was doing creatively. I have always loved discovering emerging talent and championing new voices, just like I did when I first started out and discovered Starsmith.

"We’ve recorded hundreds of songs together, and I loved the freedom of exploring different sounds, feelings, thoughts, and experiences.

"It felt really organic and honest, like journaling through music."

The Anything Can Happen singer recently introduced fans to her new single, Black Prada Dress, during her performance at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Sunderland, North East England.

Discussing the meaning behind the song, Ellie explained: "There’s not one definitive experience that inspired it.

"It’s directed at that negative, critical voice bringing you down. And that voice could be your own, internal voice — that self-critical, destructive one.

"I feel like we all have one of those, just like we have different versions of ourselves. I love the honesty of it, the rawness, and I hope people can connect to it in their own way.”

The upcoming album also reflects on Ellie’s split from former husband Caspar Jopling in 2024 after five years of marriage.

The Love Me Like You Do star, who shares four year old son Arthur with Jopling, admitted she never expected the project to evolve into what she described as a “divorce album.”

Back in January, Ellie told Nylon magazine: "It had always been the goal to start this album. I didn't know it was going to be a divorce album, but that's the way it started heading.

"When I married my ex-husband, I thought it was for life. That will never go away, and that will always stay with me. There are some songs that are necessary for me to acknowledge that time in my life and to be respectful of it.

"Then there were some songs that were extremely reactionary and sad that I felt were good to do in the moment, but don't serve me long-term."

Ellie, who welcomed her second child, Iris, with boyfriend Beau Minniear in March, said the emotional journey behind the record can be heard throughout the music.

She said: "It's so funny that the process over the years is so indicative of how I was feeling at the time. The songs have gone from so dark and angry, to cynical, to funny, to coming out the other side, to meeting a new guy and being excited."
