Morrissey calls off Las Vegas residency shows at the last minute

Morrissey has called off his planned residency in Las Vegas.

Fans who purchased tickets received notice on Friday, Aug. 7, that the former Smiths singer would no longer perform his four scheduled concerts at the Encore Theater inside Wynn Las Vegas. The residency was supposed to open on Aug. 14 but was abandoned because of “unforeseen logistical issues,” Rolling Stone reported.

“Hello, we regret to inform you that Morrissey – Live in Concert, scheduled for August 14, 15, 18, and 19 at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, has been canceled,” the notification explained. “Due to unforeseen logistical issues, the scheduled Las Vegas residency cannot take place.”

When the report was published, Morrissey’s tour website continued to display the canceled Las Vegas appearances. The dates had disappeared from Wynn’s upcoming entertainment calendar, while the Ticketmaster pages for the performances informed customers, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

Morrissey had yet to address the cancellation publicly when the news emerged. Billboard contacted his team seeking additional information.

His most recent appearance took place on Aug. 1 at Super Bock Arena in Porto, Portugal.

The artist still has several U.S. engagements scheduled for the autumn, including Riot Fest in Chicago on Sept. 19 and Brooklyn’s CBGB Festival on Sept. 26. The itinerary also features visits to Washington, D.C., Nashville, Houston and other locations before ending with a headline performance at Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach, Calif., on Nov. 14. A small number of European concerts will then finish his touring year.

Morrissey has become known for canceling or moving performances for a wide range of reasons throughout his career. In 2025 alone, he withdrew from 25 dates and delayed another 11, according to Rolling Stone.

During January, Morrissey withdrew from two California concerts that had already been moved from 2025 because of a health problem. He later canceled an appearance in Valencia, Spain, in March after experiencing “sleep deprivation” from a nearby festival whose excessive noise reportedly “left Morrissey in a catatonic state.”

His 14th studio record, Make-Up Is a Lie, arrived in March.
