Blondshell Reflects On Growing Up In Stirring New Song ‘Fur Elise’

By Liberty Dunworth

Blondshell has unveiled the emotional new song ‘Fur Elise’, which will appear on her forthcoming album ‘Violins’. Listen to the track below.

The Los Angeles musician, whose real name is Sabrina Teitelbaum, plans to issue her third studio record through Partisan Records on September 25. It follows her 2025 album ‘If You Asked For A Picture’.

She previously introduced the project with ‘Heart Has To Work So Hard’ and its powerful title song. Teitelbaum has now offered another preview with ‘Fur Elise’, which closes the upcoming collection.

The song moves between the softer and heavier dynamics that have become central to Blondshell’s sound, while its words examine the confusing realities of entering adulthood.

Its name references the famous classical piano composition. The lyrics imagine someone walking towards the altar while becoming consumed by uncertainty and questioning the choices they have made.

“You’re trying to figure out what you want your life to look like, and what you want playing at your wedding, but you don’t even know where to start. You’re picking the wrong song,” Teitelbaum explained.

Those ideas connect closely with the wider subjects explored throughout ‘Violins’, including damaged friendships, faith, physical identity and the difficult process of recovery.

“This record’s heavy in a way,” Teitelbaum said. “[The songwriting] has gotten a little bit less literal. There’s more imagery. But my main goal with this record was to have songs that hit hard. I wanted big lead lines.”

Discussing the greater confidence she brought to her third album, the musician added: “I felt like I wasn’t walking in the dark anymore. I spend more time with Yves [Rothman, producer] than almost anybody – we just have such an efficient working relationship.”

Blondshell is also heading across North America, the UK and Europe later in 2026. The schedule features her largest London headline performance so far at the Roundhouse on December 15. The complete itinerary is available here, with remaining tickets offered here for the UK and here for North America.

During a conversation with NME in 2025, Teitelbaum described stepping back from the intensely revealing writing heard on her debut while creating ‘If You Asked For A Picture’. “I think I feel pretty masculine as a person, and my relationship with gender has been somewhat complicated,” she said.
