Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have officially welcomed their third child, Rocki Irish Mayers.
The pop star announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday, Sept. 24, confirming that she gave birth earlier this month on Sept. 13. Rihanna included a picture of herself holding her newborn daughter, along with a photo that showed a pair of tiny boxing gloves.
This is the couple’s third baby together. Their first son, RZA, was born in 2022, followed by their second son, Riot, in 2023. Rihanna first revealed she was expecting again in May, making a grand entrance at the Met Gala in a two-piece Miu Miu ensemble that highlighted her baby bump.
The timing of the announcement also comes just a day after Elle published a cover story on A$AP Rocky. In the interview, he shared that he had been hoping for a daughter this time. “I hope it’s a girl. I really do. We’re praying for a girl,” he said. “Our first time, we wanted to know the sex of the baby. The second time, we didn’t want to know. Third time, we don’t want to know until, you know. I feel like it’s going to be a girl. This pregnancy is so different from the other two. You can tell from the experience. I hope it’s a baby girl, man. I need that.”
Back in April 2024, Rihanna spoke with Interview Magazine about her hopes for more children. When asked how many kids she saw in her future, she replied, “As many as God wants me to have.” When pressed on whether she wanted more than two, she said, “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
