aespa Unveil ‘WDA (Whole Different Animal)’ With G-DRAGON
A new chapter has officially begun for aespa, and the group is making sure fans can truly “feel somethin’.”
Seoul based K-pop stars aespa returned on Monday (May 11) with “WDA (Whole Different Animal),” the lead single from their upcoming second studio album LEMONADE. The track also features G-DRAGON, best known as the leader of fellow K-pop powerhouse BIGBANG.
“WDA (Whole Different Animal)” blends booming basslines and heavy synth production with strong hip-hop influences throughout the track. Sung in both English and Korean, the song builds momentum before G-DRAGON steps in with a standout rap verse near the end. The track closes with the repeated lines “She a whole different animal” and “Give me all smoke, gun powder, powder.”
Alongside the single, aespa also released an accompanying music video that dives deeper into the group’s futuristic concept. The visual places viewers inside a strange world where reality and the digital universe constantly collide. Throughout the video, duplicate versions of the four members repeatedly appear and multiply, creating confusion over what is real and artificial. By the end, the members fight through the chaos and regain control of their identities.
Fresh off winning Group of the Year at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music Awards, aespa first revealed plans for LEMONADE back in April. The album follows the group’s 2024 Billboard 200 top 10 EP Whiplash, which debuted at No. 8, and is scheduled for release on May 29. Shortly after the album arrives, aespa will launch their fourth world tour, SYNK: COMPLæXITY. The tour begins Aug. 7 with two nights in Seoul before expanding across Asia, North America, and Europe following the recent conclusion of their SYNK : aeXIS LINE tour last month.
Fans can now pre order LEMONADE and watch the music video for “WDA (Whole Different Animal)” online.
